Am I a candidate for Velashape?

Suitable candidates for velashape treatment are healthy individuals and include:

What is a Velashape Procedure?

Velashape is a procedure that uses radio frequency (RF) energy and infrared light to heat localized fatty tissue, while a vacuum and mechanical massage manipulates and smoothes and tautens the skin.

Velashape reduces unsightly cellulite and circumference inches on thighs, buttocks, arms, love handles and the abdomen. The combination of infrared and RF energies is delivered through a hand held device which passes over the skin using rollers and a vacuum action. The velashape device precisely heats the underlying tissue within the targeted treatment area. This heat causes shrinkage and tightening of the fat cells and increased lymphatic drainage, resulting in a reduction of the dimpled appearance of cellulite, smoothing of the skin’s surface and a reshaping and firming of the treated area.

The velashape procedure takes around 40 minutes to one hour, with little or no downtime. Four to six initial velashape treatments are recommended performed at one week intervals. Maintenance velashape procedures are then required at six monthly intervals.

Some patients report that the velashape cellulite reduction treatment feels like a warm deep tissue massage. No anesthesia is required. The treated area may appear flushed or pink from the heat for a short while, and may feel warm for several hours after treatment. Most velashape patients can resume normal activities immediately.

Velashape Procedure Steps

Step 1 - Preparation

1. The area to be treated with velashape is cleansed

1. A small or large hand piece (depending on the treatment) is passed over the skin of the treatment site. The mechanical rollers and vacuum suction "pull up" the skin so there is gentle stretching of the skin surface as the applicator is passed over the area. A cooling spray is applied to the treatment area to protect your skin. The velashape practitioner will adjust the energy of the velashape machine for your comfort.

1. You may notice some tightening in the treated area immediately after your velashape procedure. The treated area may appear flushed or pink for a short while, and may feel warm for several hours after treatment.

Velashape Recovery and Healing Steps

The velashape procedure is non-invasive, so there is normally no velashape recovery time.

Any feeling of heat should resolve after a few hours, though the redness may take a few days or weeks to disappear. Some bruising may occur at the velashape treatment site. You may also notice an increase in your urine output, which is due to the broken down cells being absorbed and excreted by the lymphatic system. Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids to help your body to flush out this material.

You may return to your normal activities immediately.
