Originally from New England, Dr. Karlin received his bachelor of arts degree from Harvard University and attended Duke University, where he earned his doctor of medicine degree. He served residencies in general surgery at the University of Miami, Florida, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His residency in plastic surgery was completed at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he was an instructor, as well.
Dr. Karlin is a member of many local, national and international medical societies. He has authored numerous articles in respected journals and has made various TV and radio appearances.
