Introduction
Dr. Shellie Marks is a board certified dermatologist. She received her undergradaute degree from the University of Florida. She then completed her medical degree at The Florida State University College of Medicine. While attending medical school, Dr. Marks was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society. She was the recipient of the FSU College of Medicine Student Research Award, the John A. Johnson, MD Scholarship, and a Women’s Dermatologic Society Medical Student Awareness Program Grant. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Marks completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia where she received the Most Valuable Internal Medicine Resident Award in October 2006.
Dr. Marks spent a year performing research trials as the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Dermatology Clinical Research Fellow prior to starting her Dermatology Residency at UAB. She participated in numerous research studies focusing on treatments for psoriasis, onychomycosis, disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis, and cutaneous candidiasis, among others.
Dr. Marks is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.
