Am I a candidate for Restylane and Perlane injections?
You might be an ideal candidate for filler injections if you are looking for a way to reduce the effects of aging, particularly the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the facial skin. Most candidates for this treatment choose Restylane and Perlane to combat the signs of aging, but this treatment is also popular for those wishing to enhance the appearance of their lips or cheeks by increasing their volume. Ideal Restylane and Perlane candidates are in good overall health and are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
What are Restylane and Perlane?
Perlane and Restylane injections contain hyaluronic acid which works by increasing the volume of the skin, filling in wrinkles from inside. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the structure of the skin, making this gel completely safe for injection into your body.
There are three types of Restylane and Perlane gels currently available:
- Restylane Touch, with the smallest particle size, is formulated to fill in fine lines, such as age lines. It is injected into the upper layers of the skin and is able to create very controlled change in the appearance of the skin.
- Restylane Perlane is formulated with a slightly larger particle size, perfect for filling in deeper creases or creating volume in the lips or other areas of the face.
- Restylane SubQ has an even larger particle size, formulated for filling in deep facial creases and creating dramatic changes in the facial appearance.
Restylane and Perlane steps
Like most cosmetic fillers, Restylane and Perlane can be injected in the doctor's office, with the total treatment time well under an hour. A topical anesthetic may be applied to minimize any discomfort caused by the injection. The clear gel is then injected through a tiny needle into the treatment area. You are free to leave the office as soon as the filler has been injected, and no bandages are required over the treated area.
Restylane and Perlane Recovery and Healing Steps
There is no downtime following the injection of Restylane and Perlane cosmetic fillers. You can return to your normal activities immediately, although some patients are advised to avoid strenuous exercise for two to three days.
The results of Restylane and Perlane injections will be apparent within three days of your treatment. These results last up to six months until the body naturally absorbs the filler, returning the treated area to its original appearance.
Restylane and Perlane Side Effects and Procedure Risks
Commonly the area around the injection site may be swollen or red for a few days following the treatment, although many patients experience no side effects. Because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, there are no risks of an allergic reaction.
