Cost of Plastic Surgery
Although prices have come down significantly in recent
years, in general, cosmetic corrections are moderately
expensive. This reflects the tremendous amount of education,
training, and practical experience necessary to become
a highly competent and qualified plastic surgeon.
The charge for any particular operation varies among
doctors. The busiest and most experienced surgeons tend
to ask the highest fees, and geographic location will
also have a bearing on the price. Within reason, shopping
for the best price is not a good idea.
A patient who consults with more than one surgeon
will quickly gain an idea of how much a particular procedure
will cost. Besides the cost of the procedure itself,
there are a few incidental costs that you will want
to be aware of.
The cost for an in-office consultation will range from
$35 to $250. However, many doctors are now offering
initial patient consultations free of charge, deciding
that by giving up some time, they may acquire a patient.
(This is the reason doctors you contact through PerfectYourself
will talk with you about your enhanced picture at no
charge.) With free consultations being offered it is
possible to see two or three doctors without incurring
additional expense. (Note: If a surgery is covered by
insurance, consultation fees may also be covered.)
Also: medical photographs are usually required and
can be $35 to $120 extra. And blood tests are necessary
and usually cost about $50.
