What is a buttock implant Procedure?

Buttock implant (buttock augmentation, gluteal augmentation) is the surgical insertion of artificial implants into the buttocks in order to enhance their size and shape.

Buttock implants are used to make the buttocks larger and shapelier, and can also provide individuals with underdeveloped buttocks with a more proportionate figure. During the buttock implant procedure, an incision is made under the buttock cheek or down the buttock crease. The buttock implant doctor then creates a “pocket”, and inserts the butt implants. Sometimes, liposuction will be performed at the same time. The buttock implant operation takes two to three hours to complete under general anesthetic, or local anesthetic with sedation.

Buttock implant Surgery Procedure Steps

Step 1 - Anesthesia

  1. The buttock lift operation is normally carried out under a general anesthetic, or local anesthetic with sedation.
Step 2 - The incisions
  1. The buttock implant surgeon makes an incision where the cheek meets the back of the thigh, or down the buttock crease. The doctor creates a pocket into which to insert the butt implants, under or on top of the gluteus maximus muscle. Sometimes the operation is performed in combination with liposuction. After both buttocks have been operated on, the buttock implant doctor makes sure the buttocks are symmetrical and natural.
Step 3 - Closing Up
  1. The butt implant surgeon sutures the buttock incisions with dissolvable stitches. A compression bandage is placed around the buttocks to help reduce discomfort and swelling.
Step 4 - The results
  1. The results of your buttock implant can be seen immediately but the buttocks look more natural and become more soft as the muscle stretches during the several months after butt implant surgery.

Buttock implant Surgery Recovery and Healing Steps

When you wake up after butt implant surgery, you will feel tired, sore, and stiff, and have swelling and bruising around your buttock area. You may be prescribed an antibiotic, pain medication and an anti-inflammatory medication. You will wear a compression garment, which will be removed a few days after butt implant surgery.

During buttock implant recovery time, rest as much as possible, and drink plenty of fluids. You will be able to resume sedentary work within a few days to a week. Avoid physical exertion for several weeks.

The stitches will come out within a week to ten days, and swelling will gradually subside over several weeks. The results will then become apparent.
